The Green Party has been proposing radical and necessary action on climate change for the past three decades. We were talking about these issues when most other politicians were either in ignorance or denial. We have the courage to demand the sort of action that the science and social justice dictates rather than limiting our policy ambition to what big business will tolerate.
The ten policies we highlight here are not enough on their own to ensure that the UK plays its proportionate part in ensuring that the world stays within the 1.5C warming limit. But they are far more radical than what is being proposed by any other political party. We are highlighting them to demonstrate what real ambition on climate actually looks like.

OUR FRAMEWORK FOR HOW TO STRUCTURE A POLICY RESPONSE TO THE CLIMATE EMERGENCY
- To drive change we need five year plans focussing on actual emissions reductions each year.
- Due to the UK’s large historic emissions, we have a strong moral and scientific case for leading the way on achieving net zero as quickly as possible.
- No exceptions: all sectors must play their part, meaning emissions from aviation and shipping have to be included in UK climate targets.
- No fancy accounting and offsets: we must take responsibility for our emissions domestically.
- We must aim to reach net zero as quickly as is feasibly possible in order to reduce risk for the planet and ensure future generations are not left to pick up the bill for harm they did not do.

Thanks
I like the 10 points, but felt numbers 2&3 could be stronger:-
Point 2: greater emphasis on locally organised green generation schemes, including solar as well as wind (and some places have suitable water flows.
Point 3:as well as insulating our homes better environmental heat sources, including ground and air, should be tapped for heating; not just heat from environmentally generated electricity.
Can I ask why you have decided on. UNiversal basic income model for social support rather than a universal basic services model?
Disappointed that no mention of Hydrogen production research & development with regard to road transport – Maritime use & home heating use. I understand there are difficulties involved with cost, but surely financial encouragement for research through universities could make hydrogen use viable?
I vehemently support the green’s 10 point climate plan -absolutely vital for the future.
Where’s the action on plastic waste?
The ten point plan is revolutionary. We should deliver a copy of this plan through every uk door so as to bypass the established media.
Congratulations on a sensible and sustaining 10 point Climate plan. Now to put it into practice!!
A ban on all throw away plastics, especially non refillable lighters, plastic bags, unnecessary food wrappings (swede does not need to be wrapped) . Thorough education of all ages of this living planet.
AS A RELATIVELY NEW MEMBER OF THE PARTY, I AM BROADLY IN FAVOUR OF THE TEN POINT PLAN. HOWEVER, INSTEAD OF A CARBON TAX AS THE NUMBER ONE IN THE LIST, I WOULD MUCH PREFER A COMMITMENT TO THE CREATION OF THE NEW JOBS IN THE GREENER WORLD. PEOPLE ARE UNDERSTANDABLY WORRIED ABOUT JOBS AND LIVELIHOODS AND IF WE CAN SET OUT HOW MANY NEW JOBS AND WHERE THEY WILL BE CREATED, WE SHOULD GAIN MORE SUPPORT FOR THIS MOVEMENT WHICH TO ME IS STILL NOT STRONG ENOUGH….
Very worthy in tone but does not address the essential measures and ignores the problems with what is proposed.
First, none of this will save us from catastrophe which the existing greenhouse atmosphere will bring – try albedo ge4oengineering. Second -the renewables mentioned are of limited use without storage, cars of whatever sort are too many, the chief eating/health problem is excess …. ETC
